Police support services
Police support services
In this time of political change, there has never been a better time for the private and public sectors to work together. Outsourcing some non-frontline functions could result in both cost and resource efficiency, and see police officers return to the frontline.
We understand that working more closely with the private sector might feel unfamiliar; doing so can ease the pressure and support the police service in achieving its target. We aim to provide you with high quality services you can trust and give you the peace of mind that your workforce can focus on core policing activities.
Our personnel are highly trained and are selected based on matching their skills and experience with those required for police support duties. MITIE is highly experienced in managing staff transfers; we successfully transferred over 2,000 employees from a variety of clients last year, typically achieving a transfer rate of over 95% in TUPE transfers. Some people may be eligible for transfer to MITIE; we provide extensive support through regular communication.
MITIE’s police support services team can work with you to identify areas that could be effectively outsourced. Some areas could include:
- Custody staff and full custody support services;
- ‘Bank’ staff to support peak custody demand, eg providing welfare checks and constant watches;
- Detainee escorting services;
- Scenes of crime guarding;
- Victim / witness care and transportation;
- House to house enquiries;
- Security risk and resilience profiling, and management;
- Devolved policing tasks under the Community and Railway Safety Accreditation Schemes; and
- Staff and contractor employee screening.
We have given a lot of thought to how we can support the police in delivering services cost effectively and to the same high standards; in delivering support services to the police we will adapt our processes and procedures to fit each individual client.
