Doing more for less
Our commitment to our communities wherever we are in the world is about pledging our time, resources, and technical capabilities to supporting those who live and depend on the environments in which we serve.
In return we create enhanced, quality relationships with existing and future MITIE clients, suppliers and people.
Not least in these economically constrained times, there are many and varied demands on businesses for both financial and in-kind support.
At MITIE we prioritise these through:
- providing support for seven employee nominated charities over a defined period to provide a valued contribution;
- engaging with other identified local charities relevant to our business operations; • supporting our existing Construction and Facilities Management Skills Centre schools;
- operating an employee volunteer programme to provide pro-bono expertise for ‘World of Work’, ‘Community Challenge’ and a spectrum of other events including environmental and in particular, biodiversity activities;
- supporting stakeholder organisations, including the Prince’s Trust and Business in the Community who amongst other activities promote employability opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
What is our objective?
To make sure all our businesses understand our high sustainability standards – including the use of innovative low carbon technologies – so our clients can benefit from them wherever they are in the world. How are we going to achieve it?
In support of our looking after our clients properly focus area:
1) We’ll maintain our support and development of MITIE’s Construction Skills Centres;
2) We’ll introduce three new FM Skill Centres; the first has already commenced in Tyne Castle, Edinburgh.
In doing more for our clients with less, wherever they are in the world:
3) We’ll continue our financial and in-kind support for MITIE’s elected seven UK Regional Charities; a) Acorns;
b) Christies;
c) CLIC Sargent;
d) Great Ormond Street, London;
e) Naomi House Children’s Hospice;
f) Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke Association;
g) Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.
In nurturing our people’s talents:
4) We’ll also actively promote our volunteering programme across MITIE giving our people, clients and suppliers the opportunity to participate in community and environmentally rewarding projects.
